Trade and Global Food Security Global - Regional - Local
The Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection will put the main focus of the 2011 Global Forum for Food and Agriculture on “Trade and Global Food Security: Global – Regional – Local”.
It is the objective of the “Berlin Agriculture Ministers' Summit” and the “International Agriculture Ministers’ Panel Discussion”, which are taking place on 22 January 2011 during the “International Green Week 2011”, to increase public awareness about the importance of trade and in particular of an integrated trade system for food security and the implementation of the “Right to Food”.
Against the background of the slow progress being made in the WTO Doha Development Round negotiations, this international and high-profile conference is intended to give impetus to further discussions on the topic of trade and world food security. Agriculture ministers from all over the world will have the opportunity to exchange experiences and concepts on the contribution of trade to world food security at local, regional and global level in the different countries and in a global context.
